SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES
There have been no significant changes to the Company’s significant accounting policies as described in the Company’s Annual Report on Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2015, except as described in Note 1 under Changes affecting comparability.
Recent Accounting Pronouncements
In May 2014, the FASB issued ASU No. 2014-09, Revenue from Contracts with Customers: Topic 606. ASU 2014-09 outlines a single comprehensive model for entities to use in accounting for revenue arising from contracts with customers and supersedes most current revenue recognition guidance. The FASB continues to clarify this guidance and most recently issued ASU 2016-08, Principal versus Agent Considerations (Reporting Revenue Gross versus Net), which has the same effective date as ASU 2014-09.  The new standard will become effective beginning with the first quarter of 2018 and can be adopted either retrospectively to each prior reporting period presented or as a cumulative effect adjustment as of the date of adoption. The Company is currently evaluating the impact ASU 2016-08 and ASU 2014-09 will have on the Company's financial position, results of operations and cash flows.
In February 2016, the FASB issued ASU 2016-02, Leases: Topic 842, in order to increase transparency and comparability among organizations by recognizing lease assets and lease liabilities on the balance sheet for those leases previously classified as operating leases. The new standard will become effective beginning with the first quarter of 2018 using a modified retrospective approach and early adoption is permitted. The Company expects that this standard will have a material impact on our consolidated balance sheet and is currently evaluating the impact.
Effective December 31, 2015, the Company adopted ASU 2015-17, Balance Sheet Classification of Deferred Taxes: Topic 740. See Changes affecting comparability under Note 1.
Effective January 1, 2016, the Company adopted ASU 2016-09, Improvements to Employee Share-Based Payment Accounting: Topic 718. See Changes affecting comparability under Note 1.
