PRINCIPLES OF CONSOLIDATION
The consolidated financial statements include the accounts of the Columbia Sportswear Company, its wholly owned subsidiaries and entities in which it maintains a controlling financial interest (the "Company"). All significant intercompany balances and transactions have been eliminated in consolidation.

Estimates and Assumptions |
ESTIMATES AND ASSUMPTIONS
The preparation of financial statements in conformity with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America ("GAAP") requires management to make estimates and assumptions that affect the reported amounts of assets and liabilities and disclosure of contingent assets and liabilities at the date of the consolidated financial statements and the reported amounts of revenues and expenses during the reporting period. Actual results may differ from these estimates and assumptions. The Company's significant estimates relate to sales reserves, excess, close-out and slow-moving inventory, impairment of long-lived assets, impairment of indefinite-lived intangible assets and goodwill, and income taxes.
